The Southeastern Railway Museum will host steam-powered rides at the museum on a pair of weekends this fall, marking the first time in roughly 15 years that a steam train has operated at the museum. On Sept. 29-30 and Oct. 6-7, the museum will host Jeddo Coal No. 85, named “Mack.” John and Barney Gramling of Ashley, Indiana, own the steamer and take it to museums and events nationwide. The event coincides with a planned 20th anniversary celebration of the museum’s move to its current location.
Train rides are $5. Premium (closer platform) “SmokeEater” caboose train rides are $8. Caboose train rides are time specific reservations. Please arrive on the loading platform at least 5 minutes ahead of ticketed time.
Rides on the museum’s antique handcar will be $2. Grandscale / Park Train rides are $3. Both the handcar and parktrain rides will be on a line up (first come, first ride) basis.
Please NOTE: You must purchase museum admission to ride the train(s), or the handcar. Ride prices are in addition to museum admission.
