Tuesday, August 28, 2018 celebrate and learn with us about our history and your history laid to rest in each of the cities or towns.
The Duluth Historical Society invites representatives from each of the surrounding historical societies to attend. Plan now to join us and bring your friends.This evening’s activities are free and we are encouraging members and non-members to participate.
At 5:00 pm a light reception will be held for everyone at the Duluth Historical Depot, on the campus of the Southeastern Railway Museum, 3595 Buford Highway, Duluth, GA. At the 6:00 hour in the Exhibit Hall in the Main Museum Building we will interact with one another to learn and share with each other.
Presentations include:
- Cemetery ‘art’ and the stories they tell.
- Presentation by Charles Summerour including visuals, pitfalls, and stories discovered during his research of laying out cemeteries. He is a native of Duluth.
- Book signing by Charles Summerour, author of “The Duluth Church Cemetery” and can be purchased at this event. Limited supply of books for $20 each. RSVP to reserve your copy. Proceeds from the sale of this book will go to preserve the historical cemetery in Duluth.
