A Central of Georgia Railway roundhouse once stood on the western edge of downtown Atlanta’s railroad gulch?
Today its site is in the shadow of the much larger but similarly round structure known as Mercedes Benz Stadium. You can quickly find the exact location on a modern map by looking for the intersection of Mitchell and Elliott streets.
The former street was raised over the tracks more than a century ago. The latter has been mostly hidden by viaducts and elevated plazas but is still there.
Note that Hunter Street is now M.L.K. Jr. Drive, and it is elevated as well.
